According to the Injury Lawyer Directory, a fire broke out on the water ride “Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls” at Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando. A theme park employee noticed the smoke and evacuated all tourists and staff members before flames engulfed one of the ride’s housing structures. Some of the guests were checked out by the Universal Studios first-aid room but none were reported as needing hospitalization at that time.
The “Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls” ride remains shut down indefinitely until the cause of the fire has been determined. So far, fire investigators suspect that an electrical problem from an air conditioner or ride controller may have been the source of the theme park accident.
The Universal Studio’s spokesman would not say whether or not park guests who were endangered by the unsafe ride were compensated. Many theme parks tend to downplay tourist injuries and accidents or do not report them, as they are not legally required to do so. Tourist injuries are not uncommon at Florida theme parks, and sometimes amusement parks downplay incidents in order to protect their reputation from daily visitors.
